☢️  Course 5: Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

Certificate Code: GS-TDG-  |  Duration: ~3 Hours  |  Modules: 12  |  Exam: 20 Questions  |  Pass Mark: 80%

“Dangerous goods are on every highway. Know how to handle them safely and legally.”

Every day in Canada, thousands of shipments of dangerous goods move by truck, rail, and air. A single error in classification, packaging, or documentation can cause a toxic spill, explosion, or environmental catastrophe — and land you and your employer in serious legal trouble. This course gives you complete command of Canada’s TDG system from the ground up.

What You Will Learn

  • Navigate all 9 TDG hazard classes and their sub-classifications with confidence
  • Use Schedule 1 of the TDG Regulations to classify any dangerous good by UN number and PSN
  • Apply the Packing Group system (I, II, III) and select UN-spec approved packaging
  • Complete a legally compliant shipping document with all 8 required elements
  • Read, place, and inspect TDG labels (100mm×100mm) and placards (250mm×250mm) correctly
  • Understand when ERAP (Emergency Response Assistance Plans) are required
  • Use the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) to respond to TDG incidents
  • Meet Transport Canada TDG Act and Regulations (SOR/2001-286) compliance requirements

Who This Course Is For:  Required by law for shippers, carriers, handlers, and importers of dangerous goods. Essential for anyone who touches a TDG shipment at any point in the transportation chain.

Why It Matters:  TDG violations can result in fines of up to $50,000 per day and criminal imprisonment. A single misclassified shipment is a liability that far exceeds any cost savings from cutting corners.
